After all the kindergarten/daycare students left we had lunch with year 5. Then their parents came at 13.00 and we had our graduation ceremony.

The members read their graduation speeches and then we conferred their certificates and letters of attendance to them.

Finally as graduates they showed us their graded reading abilities. Then we had lite refreshments and a nice chat with all of the parents.

3 members became graduates of Little Lorikeets. But truly it's not the end, it is a continuation. 

The three members will join our after school program.

Where they will come and meet their friends after elementary school.

This is what we wanted 12 years ago when we first started Little Lorikeets.

Everyone excited, everyone in at the same time....

Today is graduation day for the year 5 年長

students.

We will play until 11.30, year 5 will do their graduation speeches for year 2,3,4 and we will take some photos. The. Year 2,3,4 will go home and we will have lunch with the year 5 class.

Then from 13.00 we will conduct the Little Lorikeets graduation 🎓 ceremony.

Certificates and letters of attendance will be conferred.

And the weather is beautiful which is a plus.

Today's the last day of the school year. Tomorrow (20th) is Graduation day..

But for us it's not graduation but continuation. As you can see our After-school students come and attend when there elementary school is off.

They come to Little Lorikeets and have fun with there old friends.

Yesterday (18th March) was the last Munchkin of the school year.

Some are joining in April, one is moving on to normal kindergarten.

From April we will start again building up the Munchkin class in preparation for the 2026 school year. Giving your 2 year old a chance at another language is one of the best investments you can make, especially if you then decide to join our kindergarten or daycare.

Last night was the last lesson for 2 of my students A and D san. They will be going on to Senior high school.

They were some of the first students to join our school 12 or so years ago before we were fully daycare/kindergarten.

We had a great talk, a bit of nostalgia.

I'm sure we will meet again in the future.

Today we had another digital parents day.

This time no computer shutting down during the lesson at least.

This time we used "Meets" BUT it was no good really. The camera on the smartphone stopped working 😭 so we switched to a Google tablet BUT could only use the forward camera.

Zoom seems to be the better option...

Other than the technical issues the parents day went well and the parents got a glimpse of what we do so that is good 👍.

Next school year we will try it again and hopefully get the technology right.

After today, only 3 more days.

Extra sheets for year 5 .

Today's class caption was a year 5 student, maybe her last time before graduation 🎓.

She has been with our school since year 1 🥲 it's been a long time together.

But we will still meet her in our After-school 😅

The last Field Trip of the school trip and last for year 5 (年長).

Everyone had fun 😊 and a good time.

But at Little Lorikeets it's not the end but a continuation as year 5 moves on to our After-school program and will still get to meet and play with their friends, in English.

Today 3 Munchkin members attend on a cold rainy Osaka day.

Playing with the bigger kids and having fun, a great way to get use to the kindergarten/daycare.

Little Lorikeets where results are gained.

Coming up, St Patrick's day, so we give the students a basic back ground on the event and Ireland.

It's important for the students to understand cultures from around the world.

Of course we cover Japanese culture too, like the recent Hina matsuri and Setsubun.

A great balance.

Today the After School senior members are playing a Minecraft board game in English.

The instructions are in Japanese, but fortunately they can read them and then play the game in English.

Bilingual life is wonderful isn't it 🤣✌️

But this is why After School is graduates only.

Today was one of the final events for our school year.

Today was the year 5, 4 and 3 farewell picnic.

We went to the Kawanishi city dragon park and had lots of fun. Playing zombie tag, having a rice ball picnic. It was pretty frosty 🥶 today but the kids got warmed up running.

Today's Munchkin. 3 members came today and had fun.

The newest members crying has decreased entirely.

Getting use to our school, it's wonderful.

Self-motivated, not much influence from the teachers, come in take a sheet and start working on it.
