The Importance of English

and the GIG Economy

Japan an isolated island country. Language is important.
Japan an isolated island country. Language is important.

Japan being an Island nation, with its own national language, can fail to see the importance of foreign languages such as English.

nd up until now Japan has been able to get away without it, sometimes to its own benefit. Trade negotiations can be stalled or stopped entirely on the pretense of a language barrier.

But alas the world is changing, the traditional business models of employment until retirement is disappearing. Nowadays

especially with the advent of high-speed internet and teleworking, companies are starting to employ people for GIGS only.

The GIG Economy is here
The GIG Economy is here

Gigs are short to mid-term projects and once the project is completed and the results or product is finalised the team or Gig is dissolved. If you worked well, communicated well, added value and produced results, you will be sought after to work in future Gigs with the same or even different companies.

Speaking with Katakana English or a really thick accent is not going to make the cut it in the future. A lot more companies within Japan expect the employees to speak English only in the office and recently there are more and more companies in Japan with foreign CEO’s who cannot or don’t want to speak Japanese with the employees.

Leaving your child's English development until later on in life is too risky to leave to chance in our opinion.

The sooner your child is exposed to English and especially in an English only environment the better.

Getting a solid foundation in English before they start Primary school is one of our core beliefs, which should be considered with the utmost importance.
